Super quick review post.

A quick public service announcement post for you today. As you may know there is a bit of a shortage of green stuff at the moment due to the manufacturer that provides all companies that sell it discontinuing the line. Well, I recently discovered something else that affects a fair few of us that has gone missing. Those of you that like to buy second hand models and strip them without stinking out the house may be familiar with Biostrip 20. Sadly this too has now been discontinued.

There are plenty of other options of course, but I specifically like to use something mild and odourless but still with the ability to get that decades old paint shifted.

Enter the new contender, with a no frills description of a name, I decided to give this Home Strip branded paint stripper a go. On opening there is some odour, but not too offensive. Less runny than Biostrip and almost transluscent, the texture is more gelatinous which actually helps as the product remains on the surface of the model meaning you don't need to use as much to submerge your tin soldier.

As this was a first time effort I didn't want to melt my first victims, so these second edition 40k starter set Space Marines were only covered for around half an hour. A gentle scrub with a brush and a tiny bit of scraping in the recessed details and they came out pretty good.

There is still some paint on them, but it was a very quick turn around. If they were metal I would probably risk them overnight for a full clean. Needless to say, not a bad first go. I think this is good replacement. At 11 quid for a similar sized tub as the Biostrip, not badly priced either.
